The BWF World Championships is held every year except for the year of an Olympic Games. It is a showcase of the very best in the sport and it determines who are the World Champions in each of the five disciplines, men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

The first World Championships was hosted in Malmo Sweden in 1977, and the Championship was held every three years until 1983, after which, it became a biennial event until 2003. Since 2005 however, the BWF World Championships has become an annual tournament.

BadmintonWorld.TV is the official live channel of the Badminton World Federation (BWF), where we bring to you live, catch-up and delayed streaming of the big events on the HSBC BWF World Tour, as well as the majors like the Thomas & Uber Cups and the BWF World Championships.

Momota's reaction after the win is like winning a game against a buddy for a lunch treat. It's just another win. He deserve this title. A great player he is. Humble & skill full. Like tai, Akane,...

Ian Ian Ng, Dude. Have you watch Momota play this past year. That's always been his choice after winning every match. He doesn't celebrate excessively. if that was the case, then explain the two Japanese players who won the women doubles celebrate with excitement. Think before you talk, pal. Don't ever bring politics to sport.

殷漠寒 of course, we understand the history of conflict. However, it should never have a place in sport. My grandfather was made a slave during WW2 by the Japanese soldiers. That doesn't stop me from loving his play or character. It's been 74 years. Momota shouldn't have to pay for his country's sins.

It's true, but you need to realize here is Nanjing and Momota is a Japanese player. In such sensitive city, audiences cannot be 100% put down the historic reasons to support a Japanese player!

Dude, it's not an issue. He was caught inside a casino. There was no evidence that he actually gambled. Check ur facts first.

People gamble every where, and every one has both good and bad; and I don't think gambling is generally bad; it's just bad when it has gone to the point of addictions. Even addiction to sugar would give diabetes, is in-taking sugar bad then? Japan is just one of the countries that have a few weird traditions that are outdated in today world, and they are just too proud too see the good side of certain things that have became great entertainment in this time and age. People gamble for the fun of it a...
