  • Welcome to my new weekly YouTube Show - The Not Too Late Show, commissioned by me, for me, at me. In this first episode I discuss what role and effect Extinction Rebellion are having, whether class and economic factors need to be scrutinised further and how will they engage more of the public? What will give them the majority support?

    I also answer your questions!!

Poverty makes people feel dehumanized & stupid besides deep-freezing life...Andrew Yang said it, so it's a fact. #MATH #Forward UBI! UBI! UBI! #FreedomDividend
I hate to say, from way over the other side the pond, lack of abundance/ lack of needs met is the #1 global killer & always has been as unfortunately this here Forever 44yr old Biological woman has fucking witnessed in my home state & now sadly broken family time & again. Struggle in every way so REAL there's no time to even think of adding protest issues!... I've said too much already, haven't I? .

instead of giving reward for 'air-miles' we should be doing the exact opposite, and imagine if ER went out planting trees instead of clogging up london,

Ok, I've just had a much better thought than what I first posted. (In response to the recommendation to use AA to treat chemical dependence.)
Also check out DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy). It gives the student/client/patient the skills to cope, deal, and succeed with personal changes that make life happier, more focused on emotional health, and clearer minded in both ordinary and challenging daily activity.
It's an excellent addition to: meditation, therapy, rehabilitation of virtually any kind, family dynamics, dealing with the workplace, shitty friends, aggravating family situations.

Most people here would just disagree, not consolidate, if the second coming occurred. Stop lying about your morality.

As there are worldwide a lot of model communities: Maybe it would be interesting to look into them. And for me there is the problem, that these alternate communities are existing for years and they are widely ignored by the rest of people.

So part of the problem with what you said is that you think we need to source ethical behavior from "spirituality".

For starters, I dare you to provide even a single example of ANY ethical edicts that are in any way reliant upon their host spirituality exclusively for their validity. Almost ANYTHING philosophical or moral that any religion gives us could have been, and likely WAS achieved in secular thought without the sorcery and faeries. I don't think you can do that, but I'm intrigued by the possibility that you might!

Secondly, I hear your emphasis on unity and understand the motivation to rely on such populist fuzzy tropes. But there's simply no glossing over the fact that it is Abrahamic theology and end-stage capitalism that has brought us here! You said that you think in such a world as you dreamed that taking care of the Earth would be a natural assumption. Well, especially here in the US, there's a church on every street corner. Christian unity is a very real thing here, easily the most powerful political collective in this nation, and they've come to no such conclusion! Abrahamic theology sees "creation" as a temporary construct scheduled for demolition! There is absolutely no other interpretation here! It sees everything as hyper-individualist, as well: Man is separate from god, man is separate from creation, man who has reunified with Jesus is SUPER separate from creation, God is separate from this universe...there is no unity inherent in that world view. A people who are taught that they are somehow "above" or separate from the very fabric of reality will NEVER feel unity with that reality as a natural consequence of their religion.

What you describe is animist religion, which is entirely alien to the average westerner's worldview. You cannot just swap around the names of gods from Abrahamic religions for the names of gods from shamantic pagan religions and think you are even kind of close to a surrogate here. Animist religions begin from VERY different assumptions than monotheistic religions, and thus arrive at dramatically different conclusions about virtually everything!

Where in any of this do you find reason to see spirituality as a unifying force?! We've had all of history for spiritualities of all stripes to do that without the looming threats of mass extinction and the resultant ecosystem collapse to hinder them. They didn't do it. They fought each other to the death, each war more retarded than the last! And what they couldn't kill, they colonized, demonized, and erased through barbaric forms of cultural indoctrination. If you introduce religion into this necessary movement, it WILL take over, it WILL be co-opted by social engineers FAR more adept than you, and it will be manipulated into a profitable form which almost certainly will have nothing philosophically in common with the ends you were hoping to achieve!

Sorry man. You need to start over if these are your foundational principals. They've been tried. They have a failure rate of 100%.

Your voice is soothing and your vocabulary often feels "smart"... But I simply must be honest here. I'm pretty sure if you wrote this information down, in the way that you said it, it would make absolutely no sense and could possibly be complete idiocy.

Peace, love and contentment in the acceptance of a non spiritual positively nihilistic life. That's where I'm at. As the great Sufi poet Rumi wrote...'What a relief to be empty, now God can live my life'. God being the workings of the grand scheme, not some spiritual being.

We are all enlightened already Russel. In Advaita teaching (Sri Ramana, Papaji, Ganga Mira), 'there is nothing to attain, you already are it' and 'spirituality is another man made illusion' to help with the fact that we can't handle the idea of death and nothingness and our insignificance in the big scheme. Positively nihilistic...but true methinks. As for people pointing fingers and raising fists and not really knowing the real facts about climate change...well...Extinction Rebellion like so many others just take the IPCC's general consensus as the final word. All the experts not affiliated with the IPCC will tell you that the IPCC affiliated scientists are not giving us the real facts. The earth is actually cooling again, there have always been extreme weather patterns occurring around the globe...and anyway...this movie on planet Earth will continue in whatever way it wants to. What about that meteor or comet heading towards the Earth right now?! Good luck all the trustafarian globetrotters!
